New Jersey Beach Scene

This painting was started on my annual painting trip to the beach with my friend Judy. It was a very hot day at Island Beach, NJ. I wanted to swim more than paint. I added more of the dark values later at home referring to the photo I took of the scene. Scenes on a popular summer beach are part landscape and part figure study, and all always in motion.

Stone Tavern June Morning

I have been out painting this summer, but not posting as much as I should. Here is one of my favorite landscapes in New Jersey, Stone Tavern Lake. It is part of Asumpink wildlife reserver. Right near my home in Roosevelt. It is a water color of the first morning light.

Portrait Life drawing

Here is a painting I did at a friends studio, she has a model one night a month, who uses the same pose over a hour and half period. With a fun theme every month, this is February and the theme was Mardi Gras.

Life Drawing

This is a watercolor I did of the two models that were at the first Dr. Sketchy, North Jersey event. This was back in January. I paint to slow for a 20 minute pose but a great time was had by all.

October Morning

Here is a picture of a neighbor walking her daughter to school. They just got a new puppy. As you can see he thinks he is walking them. Yes, I do live in a town in which people walk down the middle of the street and it is relatively safe. In fact we do not have sidewalks.

Adrift too

He had been adrift for a long time, and now he had come a shore.

Adrift

Adrift before dawn, the fisherman was only certain of catching a beautiful summer day.

Muddy

Crossing the Extension Bridge

This is a watercolor of my oldest son, Mike at summer camp crossing an extension bridge. I wanted to get the group to work as one unit but to keep their individuality.
